I celebrate the life of my mum, Edna (Lorraine) Bray who graduated from this planet on 15 March 2007.
Known as Lorraine, mum was a beautiful woman, born in 1918. She experienced the birth of twin boys (Gemini's) in 1946, when it was thought there was only one child. A daughter, Suzannah arrived some years later. My brother is Tony. She lived and worked in many fields, the main one she enjoyed was a cake shop in Brighton-le-sands NSW, opposite the beach, where she made many friends and enjoyed the work and samples. Mum lived in the Brighton-le-sands area for over 30 years, before moving to a nursing home, some 2 years ago. Her sister Dorothy is still at the same nursing home in Banksia, Sydney. There are many fond memories I have of mum, especially in the late 70's, when I worked with Singapore Airlines and I was able to get mum a free ticket to travel to Europe, so us 3 children bought her a tour around Europe and I travelled with mum to London, then I met her again in Rome, and again back in London where the tour finished. We travelled together to Bangkok, Hong Kong, and then Singapore, before returning home to Sydney. Mum loved the colours purple and pink and most types of music. She always dressed well, and on my last visit to the hospital, one of the nurses said she was coming to wash mum, I asked her to please comb mums hair, as she never went anywhere without her hair combed. A short while later, mum looked lovely. Mum donated her body to Sydney University for research. I wish to thank all the staff & management at the Rockdale Nursing Home and the nurses and doctors at the St. George Hospital in Kogarah, Sydney. I know there are a lot of stories about nursing homes and public hospitals out there in society, however mum left this planet from the most perfect places. In the hospital she was on the 7th floor (close to God & St. Anthony) and she was cared for so beautifully, by earth Angels who could do litttle but watch her and make sure she was comfortable. Blessings to you all and thank you so much. A few weeks before she left, mum and I chatted and said fairwell. We talked about heaven and the endless cups of tea, plus a time to regroup and a time to relax and time to be free to make future choices. I know mum has entered 'Mastery Academy' and the fifth realm, in the hands of the Creator. Dearest Lorraine, I wish you well on your journey; fly free with the Angels - as I send you Much Love and Thank you for everything and for being you. Michael.
I quote from a beautiful Mother's Day card I sent to mum a few years back when I lived in the USA: If it weren't for you, I wouldn't even be here... I wouldn't have experienced the joy of a warm spring day, the simple pleasure of walking barefoot through the grass, or the red-purple hues of a glorious sunset... It was your willingness to be a mother that gave me the chance to be born into this world and live a life of my own choosing. I want you to know that I'll always be grateful for such a wonderful gift. Happy Mother's Day
